The role of garments in ancient societies

Fabric threads and leathers have been preserved, allowing researchers to get insight into ancient societies' clothing. The ancient world's dress reflects the technologies that these people had mastered. Clothing in numerous cultures served as a social indicator for distinct members of society. The evolution of clothing and fashion is a uniquely human trait that may be found in almost all human communities. Early humans wore clothing composed of materials like animal skins and vegetation to shield their bodies from the weather. The evolution of civilizations and technologies is reflected in the use of clothes and textiles over time. Material remains discovered through archaeology; representations of textiles and their creation in art; and documentation detailing the manufacture, acquisition, usage, and trade of fabrics, tools, and finished garments are among the sources available for the study of clothing and textiles.
